Limited Edition prints

All my prints are hand printed to my own instructions which are always to produce a print that exactly matches the original produced “in camera”. Absolutely no manipulation of any form takes place between the film and the print.

All my prints are made on “Ilfochrome” paper. This process (formerly known as “cibachrome”) was developed by the Ciba-Geigy Corporation of Switzerland in the 1960s. It is a positive to positive colour printing process which takes the original positive transparency and creates an original positive print image without the need for any intervening steps.

Most photographs are produced from a negative image and are created using organic based colour dies which are contained in the print processing chemistry. With “Ilfochrome” the dies are built in to the paper at manufacture and are selectively bleached away during processing. These dyes are called AZO dyes and are renowned for their vivid colour, stability and longevity. Because the dyes used in Ilfochrome paper are pure azo-metallic and not organic, the prints have a life expectancy of up to 5 times the life on any other conventional process. For this reason Ilfochrome is the only possible choice for the makers of fine art colour photographs, galleries and museums.

Each print selected for sale is limited to an edition of 50 in each of two sizes (20X24 and 12X16).
When searching the 5X4 gallery, the prints currently for sale will be highlighted with a Limited Edition marker. This means that the maximum I can sell from any one transparency is 100 prints, at which point I undertake not to sell any more.
